Cultural Narrative
Inspired by Japanese construction work wear which became a cult and fashion movement. The name TOBI is derived from “Tobi Shokunin” which is the term for highly specialised construction workers who work in higher places like scaffolding and tall buildings. There is even a leading workwear manufacturer in Japan, Toraichi, who brings out a yearly TOBI-catalogue. The wide legs are helping the construction workers to sensor more. Torachi explains it as cat's whiskers by brushing against obstacles and alerting workers earlier to potential dangers.
